(I wrote this a while ago but it seems to have gotten stuck in Drafts… poke day was aug 9 2018.) New piercing (horizontal hood / HCH) healing well. Pics were actually taken a week ago only a few days post poke.
Since then, the minimal swelling has gone down, and the discomfort is almost absent in most situations. Because I intend on attaching objects of some weight to my body using this as an anchor point, I asked for the sturdiest placement possible which is the reason why it was quite stingy for a week or so. The large ring is set quite deep which means it protrudes significantly rather than being tucked away like all my other piercings were at first. So it’s constantly being bumped and rubbed, which stirs up the interior portion. It stings around the openings.
As healing tissue tends to, it does get itchy, especially at night. Benadryl cream takes care of that though. Wish I’d gotten it sooner.
No infection, no bleeding, and I have not yet even lost the jewelery. I am very happy with this. It’s exactly what I was hoping for. Hopefully by next weekend I can start doing strange things to myself again.
